NHS Choices Information Prescriptions
Information prescriptions guide people to relevant and reliable sources of information to allow them to feel more in control and better able to manage their condition and maintain their independence.

What is an information prescription?
Your information prescription tells you about:

• your condition,
• your treatment options,
• care services (from equipment to help you get around the house to specialised exercise classes),
• benefits you may be able to claim,
• housing, and
• support groups.

It will tell you where to find out more, with contact details and website addresses that you might find useful. It tells you about local services and groups that could help, as well as national ones.
You can discuss your information prescription needs with your GP or other healthcare professional or with your social care worker, usually as part of your care plan.

The Derbyshire Mental Health Services NICE website contains local information on NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) guidelines that relate specifically to the services provided by the Trust. The website is divided into NICE guidelines such as Depression, Self Harm, Schizophrenia and Dementia. Each guideline has four sections of information relating to the following: Managers, Clinicians, Service User’s and Carers. The website is updated on a regular basis. There are plans to add new sections to the website on other NICE guidelines such as Eating Disorders and Bipolar Disorder.
