Our first elections will take place in early summer 2010. This will be conducted by an independant provider. Candidates will stand for all twenty of the elected seats on the Council. Nine nominations will be put forward from each of our partner bodies for the appointed seats.
Every member will receive an election notice, nomination form and ballot paper through the post.
Further elections will be held for vacant seats on the Council of Governors when necessary. These elections will normally take place at the end of the term of office for each of the representatives. However, there may be a case for a bi-election if a seat becomes vacant due to a member resigning or moving out of the area or vacancy occurs for any other reason.
The Council of Governors is a body of 29 elected and appointed members who have a direct involvement in the running and development of the trust.
The council is made up of 16 elected public governors, 4 elected staff governors and 9 appointed governors and is presided over by the Chairman of the trust.
Elected Members
Elected members may hold office for up to three years and will then be eligible for re-election and be able to serve on the council for a period of no more than 9 years.
Each of the constituencies are made up using the electoral boundaries as set out by local government, with the exception of four electoral constituencies which have been divided into two, North and South or East and West, according to the population density. These divided constituencies use electoral ward boundaries to define their borders. Each of the 20 elected governors are allocated to the following seats
